sometimes you know exactly what you’re looking for.
and sometimes you go to texas, find a collection of old limestone planters, bring them back to nashville, and realize everyone else was apparently looking for them too.
that’s more or less what happened with these.
over the past year, we started bringing one-of-a-kind limestone planters into the shop. weathered, perfectly imperfect, and each completely different from the next.
we loved them immediately.
and then they sold. quickly.
so naturally, we went back for more.
there’s something about old limestone that’s hard to recreate.
every planter has its own variation in shape, texture, color, and wear. some are smoother, some a little rougher around the edges. no two are exactly alike, and after years of being exposed to the elements, they already have the kind of character that usually takes a long time to create.
which, if you know us, is exactly the kind of thing we love.
we’ve always been drawn to pieces that make a home feel collected rather than overly decorated. vintage furniture, original art, old vessels, natural materials, and things that have clearly lived a little life before making their way to you.
the limestone planters fit right in.
apparently, you all agreed.
once we started paying attention, we realized limestone planters were popping up everywhere.
saved inspiration. designer homes. garden spaces. pinterest boards. beautiful entryways. oversized planters sitting quietly in the corner of a living room.
and we get it.
they’re sculptural without trying too hard. they bring texture into a space without adding a lot of color or pattern. and because every vintage piece is different, they don’t have that overly perfect, fresh-from-the-box feeling.
they can also go just about anywhere.
outside on a porch. beside a front door. tucked into a garden. inside with an olive tree. empty in the corner of a room simply because it looks good there.
we’re not big on rules.
the response to the planters also got us thinking about something bigger: outdoor design.
we spend so much time thinking about what goes inside our homes. the sofa, the rug, the art, the lighting, the coffee table, the perfect little thing to put on top of the coffee table.
then we walk outside and suddenly… patio set.
but why?
porches, patios, courtyards, gardens, and entryways are all part of the way we experience a home. they’re where we drink coffee when the weather is good, have friends over, grow things, sit with a book, eat dinner, and occasionally convince ourselves we’re going to become people who garden.
they deserve some personality too.
we love the idea of approaching an outdoor space the same way you would an indoor room: mixing materials, adding something old, thinking about scale, layering in greenery, and choosing pieces you genuinely want to live with for a long time.
maybe our favorite part of all of this is realizing the line between indoor and outdoor design doesn’t need to be quite so rigid.
some of the most interesting interiors borrow heavily from nature.
stone. old wood. linen. terracotta. woven materials. branches clipped from the yard. oversized greenery. vessels that look like they could have been sitting in a garden somewhere for the last fifty years.
bringing those elements indoors adds warmth, texture, and a little imperfection.
a limestone planter doesn't have to live outside just because someone decided to call it a planter.
put a tree in it and let it take over an empty corner. use a smaller vessel as an object on its own. bring an old garden piece into an otherwise polished room.
sometimes the thing that makes a space feel finished is the thing that doesn't traditionally belong there.
one of the fun parts of running a shop is that you don't always know what people are going to connect with.
we can make our predictions. we can follow what's happening in design. we can buy the things we love.
and then sometimes, one particular thing lands on the shop floor and everyone collectively says, that.
for us, the limestone planters were one of those things.
the first ones found homes quickly. then the next ones did too.
so yes, we went back to texas for more.
each one is still completely unique. different shapes, different patinas, different sizes, different stories. that's part of the deal when you're sourcing one-of-a-kind pieces, and it's a big part of why we keep doing it.
you never quite know what you're going to find.
if the limestone planter obsession taught us anything, it's that maybe we're all craving a little more nature at home.
something real. something imperfect. something with texture and age that doesn't feel like it came straight out of a box.
maybe it lives in the garden.
maybe it sits by the front door.
maybe it ends up smack in the middle of your living room.
we say bring the outside in, take the inside out, and make all of it feel a little more like you.
and if you happen to be looking for a limestone planter, you know where to find us.

somewhere along the way, shopping got really, really convenient.
we can order a sofa from bed, find a lamp while scrolling instagram, and have almost anything we need sitting on our doorstep in a matter of days.
and listen, we love convenience as much as anyone.
but when it comes to the things we live with every day, we still think there’s something pretty special about seeing them in person.
feeling the fabric. sitting on the sofa. picking up the pottery. seeing the scale of a piece of art on an actual wall. finding something vintage that you never would have thought to type into a search bar.
there’s an art to shopping in person. and around here, we’re still very into it.
there are certain things the internet does incredibly well.
and then there’s trying to figure out if a sofa is actually comfortable from six perfectly styled photos.
when you’re shopping for your home, so much of the decision comes down to things you can’t always see through a screen. how a linen feels. the weight of a handmade bowl. the texture of an old wood table. whether that chair is somewhere you’d actually want to sit for two hours.
homes are tactile. they’re meant to be touched, lived in, moved around, spilled on, gathered in, and changed over time.
we think shopping for them can be, too.
online shopping is great when you know exactly what you need.
shopping in person is really good when you don’t.
you come in looking for a birthday gift and leave thinking about a painting.
you stop by to look at a sofa and find the vintage table your living room has been missing.
you pick up a cookbook, smell every candle, sit in three chairs, and somehow start rethinking the corner of your bedroom.
that’s kind of the fun of it.
a shop gives you permission to wander a little. to notice something you didn’t know existed. to change your mind. to buy something simply because you love it and figure out exactly where it belongs later.
we’re big believers that not everything in your home has to start with a search bar.
one of our favorite parts of having a physical shop is, quite simply, the people in it.
our team of shop girls is made up of locals, design lovers, and even longtime ro + co shoppers who knew the store well before they ever stood behind the counter.
they know what just came in. they know which sofa everyone sits on the second they walk through the door. they probably remember the piece you were debating the last time you stopped by.
and if you walk in holding a photo of an empty corner of your living room, we are absolutely going to look at it with you.
that kind of interaction is hard to add to cart.
sometimes you need another set of eyes. sometimes you want to know where something came from or whether it can be ordered in another size. and sometimes you just need someone to tell you that yes, the weird little vintage thing you love is probably exactly what your room needs.
ro + co has one shop.
you’ll find us at 2930 sidco drive, tucked into nashville’s design district in berry hill.
there’s something we love about being a neighborhood shop. the kind of place you can pop into on a lunch break, bring your mom when she’s in town, or stop by because you’re nearby and want to see what’s new.
and things are always changing.
furniture moves. vintage comes and goes. new art lands on the walls. pillows get switched around. a local maker pops up for the weekend. something that was here the last time you visited might already be living in someone else’s home.
that’s the nature of a small shop, and we think that’s part of its charm.
nashville has changed a lot over the years, but some of our favorite parts of this city are still the places that feel distinctly local.
the coffee shop where someone knows your order. the restaurant you’ve been going to for years. the antique store you wander through with no plan. the tiny shop where you always find a good gift.
small businesses give neighborhoods personality.
when you shop locally, you’re not only taking something home. you’re supporting the people who chose to open the doors that morning, the artists whose work is hanging on the walls, the makers whose pieces are sitting on the shelves, and the community that grows around all of it.
we've been lucky enough to meet so many people through this shop over the years, from longtime customers to people who wandered in for the first time last week. we've hosted local artists, makers, vintage collectors, and other creatives we love.
somewhere along the way, customers become familiar faces. familiar faces become friends. and sometimes, apparently, they become shop girls.
we wouldn't have it any other way.
we don’t think online shopping is going anywhere.
nor should it.
sometimes you know exactly what you want, you’re in your pajamas, and two-day shipping is a beautiful thing.
but we hope we never completely lose the habit of going somewhere just to look.
walk into the little shop you’ve driven past a hundred times. touch the fabric. flip through the book. ask about the painting. sit on the sofa. talk to the person behind the counter.
buy the weird vintage thing you definitely weren’t looking for.
because the things we bring into our homes become part of our everyday lives. and sometimes, the story of how you found them is part of what makes them worth keeping.
we think there’s still a little magic in shopping that way.
and if you’re in nashville, our door is open.

if you’ve been around nashville for a while, you might know us by another name.
before we were ro + co design & shop, we were redo home + design, a local interior design and home destination that has been part of middle tennessee’s design community since 2006.
a few moves, a new name, and nearly two decades later, a lot has changed. but our love for a beautiful, collected home has stayed very much the same.
today, ro + co brings together interior design, furniture procurement, and our nashville home shop under one roof, led by mother-daughter duo mitzi maynard and khaki delaney.
here’s a little more about how we got here.
our story began in 2006, when designer mitzi maynard opened what would become redo home + design in downtown franklin.
part interior design studio, part home shop, redo was a place to find furniture, art, rugs, lighting, textiles, vintage pieces, and plenty of inspiration along the way.
after ten years in franklin, we packed things up and headed north to nashville, moving into a much larger space on sidco drive in 2016.
if you know, you know. sidco is one of nashville’s best little pockets for design lovers, tucked away in berry hill and filled with designers, makers, showrooms, antiques, and some seriously good home finds.
the larger space gave us room to grow both sides of the business: the interior design studio and the shop.
then came 2020. like so many small businesses, we shifted, adapted, and figured things out as we went, eventually moving to an appointment-only model for a period of time.
and somewhere in that evolution, the next chapter started taking shape.
in 2023, we reopened the shop as ro + co design & shop, bringing a new name and fresh perspective to a business with almost two decades of history behind it.
today, ro + co is truly a family affair.
mitzi continues to lead the interior design side as principal designer, working on everything from renovations and new construction to furnishings and art curation.
her daughter, khaki delaney, leads the shop and procurement side of ro + co, overseeing the day-to-day life of the store and helping manage the sourcing, ordering, logistics, and many moving pieces that happen behind the scenes.
together, they’ve created a business where full-service interior design, furniture sourcing, procurement, and a really fun place to shop for your home can all coexist.
and yes, working with your mom/daughter every day means there are plenty of opinions involved. we think that’s part of the fun.
our philosophy is pretty simple: your home should feel like you.
we love beautiful things, obviously. but we’re less interested in making a room look like it was purchased all at once and more interested in creating spaces that feel layered, personal, and collected over time.
that might mean a brand-new linen sofa next to a vintage table. original artwork above a piece you’ve owned for ten years. a beautiful rug that can actually handle real life. something a little weird or unexpected sitting next to something classic.
the good stuff is usually in the mix.
it’s also why we talk so much about the art of living around here. a beautiful home isn’t just about how it looks in a photo. it’s about how you actually live in it.
if you’re looking for a nashville interior designer, that’s where mitzi and the ro + co design team come in.
our interior design studio works across custom renovations, new construction, furnishings, vintage sourcing, and art curation, helping clients create homes that are thoughtful, functional, and still feel like themselves.
the process starts with the people living there.
how do you use the room? where does everyone end up at the end of the day? what do you already own that you love? what drives you crazy about your current space? are there kids, dogs, dinner parties, or all three happening on a regular basis?
those things matter just as much as picking the perfect fabric.
from there, we layer in natural materials, timeless pieces, vintage finds, art, texture, and the details that make a home feel finished without making it feel overly done.
then there’s khaki’s world.
our shop at 2930 sidco drive is filled with a constantly changing mix of furniture, vintage finds, original and local art, rugs, pillows, objects, gifts, and all those smaller pieces you didn’t know you needed until you saw them.
we like to think of the shop as the more spontaneous side of ro + co.
come in looking for a sofa. leave with a vintage vessel.
stop by for a gift. start mentally rearranging your entire living room.
it happens.
the shop also gives us a chance to highlight artists, makers, and other small businesses we love through pop-ups, exhibitions, events, and collaborations.
there is almost always something new to see, which is exactly how we like it.
procurement might not be the sexiest word in interior design, but it’s a very important one.
behind every beautifully finished room is a surprisingly long list of orders, vendors, lead times, tracking numbers, freight deliveries, receiving appointments, damaged-item claims, storage coordination, and installation logistics.
that’s where khaki and our procurement side come in.
ro + co works with designers to help source, order, track, receive, and coordinate furnishings and other pieces for their projects, taking some of the less glamorous logistics off their plates.
so while you might see the beautiful sofa sitting perfectly in place, we see the 27 emails it took to get it there.
we love both sides.
almost two decades after redo first opened its doors, ro + co looks a little different, but the heart behind it feels familiar.
we’re still obsessed with good furniture. we still believe vintage makes almost every room better. we still love discovering artists, rearranging the shop, finding the perfect piece for a client, and watching a home come together.
now, we just get to do it as ro + co.
whether you’re starting a renovation, looking for help sourcing furniture, hunting for something vintage, or just want to wander around a really good home shop for a while, come see us.
